How do Generic Aggregator elements behave in a cluster?

Hi,

I wonder if someone could provide more info on how the Generic Aggregator elements behave in a cluster?

  • Will such element automatically be created on each DMA?
  • If not, what determines on which DMA's exactly?
  • How are aggregation rules 'assigned' to aggregator elements?
  • Are we able to force/migrate a rule to an aggregator element?
  • Are we able to configure that only specific DMA's should run an aggregator element?

Thanks!

Hey,

When creating an aggregation rule, the algorithm will search for the DMA hosting the most source elements used in the rule you want to add. Then forward the request there, if there is no element there yet, one will be created.

In the rule definition of the message there is a field called AggregationElementDMA if this is assigned to a specific DMA ID you can force the rule to be added to that DMA's generic aggregator element.

Regards,
