Which connector or application in the DataMiner Catalog can be used to identify the devices connected to each network switch port?
This feature would not only assist us in performing effective root cause analysis but also help during planned maintenance to identify the devices that would be affected, such as in cases where a network switch needs to be rebooted.
Hi Kawssar,
To automatically detect connectivity between your devices, I believe your best bet is to use IDP and the Connectivity Discovery functionality if your devices support LLDP or CDP.
LLDP is the open standard while CDP is the Cisco proprietary version but in essence, they provide similar functionality of allowing us to know what each device sees as their "neighbors", we can then use a custom automation script in DataMiner to gather this information and pass to IDP to convert that "neighbor" information into DataMiner DCF connections.
After having the DCF connections in DataMiner you will have a representation of your real network and immediately see which devices are going to be affected by any issue or planned maintenance.
