A user asked for a failover switch within a view seconds. At the moment, we are rather in the higher minute range with a larger database. Are shorter switching times in the range of seconds possible for the future? As they could be achieved with a "hot standby", for example? Are there any concepts or thought models? i know that hot standby is not possible at the moment for some reasons
Hi Kai,
There are no immediate plans to get switching times of the kind of speed that you are talking about.
Details of Failover switch Benchmarks can be found here - Failover benchmarks - DataMiner Dojo
Swarming is an ongoing development to enable automatic distribution of objects in a DMS. This indeed will likely be an alternative to failover functionality where a DMA might suffer an outage or failure. The hope is that this will provide more or less seamless replacement access to those objects.
At the moment we have a loose target to introduce this functionality in a feature release of 10.2.x.
thanks Simon.
Can you say something more about the keyword “swarming”? Could there be a possibility ?
