Export/Import alarm template

Hi,

The below link probably answers my question about how to export an alarm template from cube unless there is another method which was introduced recently but the new question is that when we import the alarm template to the new version of the protocol i.e. put the exported file into the correct protocol / version folder in the server, do we only have to restart the cube to apply the changes or does it require the whole DataMiner application to be restarted to apply the change?

Export alarm / trend template from Cube

Thanks

Hi Paul,

Importing (or uploading) the new protocol does not require any extra action (Uploading an alarm template)

Hi Miguel, thanks for getting back to me.

Yes I understand importing or uploading a new protocol does not require any extra action but is it the same case when we put the exported alarm template file into the new protocol folder?

Miguel Obregon [SLC] [DevOps Catalyst] commented 12th September 2023

Hi Paul,
If you place the alarm template in the protocol folder you will need to restart the DMA to apply these changes. Keep in mind that if you are working on a cluster, you will need to place the alarm template on each DMA in the cluster and then perform a restart of all these DMAs.
This is the reason why we prefer to use the upload option. This option already take care of the synchronization across the cluster.
