ElasticSearch resource requirements

If you are not going to use ES for any new features, only the Alarm and Info Event data then what is the minimum amount of memory needed for ES. The only reason we would start using ES is due to the latest DM requirements/recommendations, not to take advantage of any new features. My understanding is that ES is required because DM will now use it for all the Alarm and Information events storage/searching, and if that is all we use it for then do we really need to meet the recommended memory/CPU/Disk requirements. We can't very easily send out $100K worth of 64G memory upgrades and possibly new computers to all our customers out in the field just to migrate them from somewhat working MySQL based systems to Cassandra/ElasticSearch.

Thanks

DataMiner Compute Requirements - DataMiner Dojo provides the hardware specification for the new deployments. This also shows the minimum requirements for DMA, Cassandra and Elasticsearch. You will need these components for running the core features of DataMiner product regardless of the features that you may not use.

Elasticsearch also have their recommendations on the production deployments, you can see them at Hardware | Elasticsearch: The Definitive Guide [2.x] | Elastic.

Challenge for Skyline and also for many technology companies is running the software on outdated and underperforming hardware. This makes the supportability of the products very difficult, so we suggest investing in the necessary hardware upgrades or move towards the virtualisation.

Also do note the support life cycles of DataMiner product and third-party applications like MySQL. DataMiner Support Life Cycle Policy - DataMiner Dojo and Third-Party Software Support Life Cycle - DataMiner Dojo .

I can't comment on the costs involved in the upgrades you mentioned, but I suggest you speaking to the Sales and TAM contacts at Skyline regarding this.

Please read the hardware and hardware specification as ‘resources’ as the compute requirements apply to the physical hardware and virtual machines.
