Different IDs when importing a view

Hi,

I exported a view DMA A. The view contained multiple views (subviews).

When I imported the .dmimport file on DMA B (a fresh installation), all subviews got the same view IDs as on DMA A except 2 subviews.

What is the best way to ensure all subviews get the same view IDs ?
Is full backup and restore a better option or are there other ways ?

Hi Arunkrishna,

I don’t think view id’s are kept with a DELT import.

Why is it important that the view id’s are the same? View id’s differ from Element and Service id’s in a way that they don’t include the DataMiner Agent ID, so they:

  • have one single range within the DMS
  • have the same range in every DMS

For that reason, I believe it’s bad practice to built upon fixed view ID’s, so I’m curieus to learn why those view id’s are important to you (between two DMS’s).
