Debug.log file causes backup to fail

Solved1.06K views15th February 2021backup

On a number of DMA’s, backups have recently started to fail with following message.

Warning: File ‘C:\Skyline DataMiner\Files\debug.log’ was in use by another process. The backup of this file can be invalid.

The debug.log file is present but empty.

  • What is the exact purpose of this file?
  • How can we get rid of the warning?
  • Is the backup file under the current circumstances still valid (I would assume so)?

DataMiner version is 10.1.2.0-9866

Thanks!

Hi Ruben,

We’ve seen this problem before: The debug.log files are being generated by CefSharp webbrowser controls used by the SLHelper processes responsible for Mobile Visio rendering.

As I understood from previous occurrences, the backup itself succeeds but there’s a notice in the alarm console.

There’s no fix available yet.

As a workaround, you can kill the SLHelper.exe process responsible for the mobile visios. It will spin up again when needed though.
