Hello Dojo,
I’m working on a disaster recovery solution that involves backing up specific files to an external server from Dataminer. My aim is to automate this backup process to run twice a month (bi-weekly) (as attached).
Is it possible to configure this using Dataminer's scheduling options?
Additionally, if anyone has experience with automating regular backups out of Dataminer, I would appreciate insights on best practices and any potential challenges.
Hi Samson,
From what I can see in your screenshot, what you are doing is correct. Every 14 days you'll take a backup of the selected agent(s) on a specified remote location in your network.
I'm doing the same thing for my local DataMiner, though I back up all my agents in the cluster, not just one. As for things to keep in mind. Make sure you check the content tab for what you want to backup (Database content is not needed/possible when you already use a remote database for example).
Depending on your disk space and needs, 5 backups looks ok. Since they are bi-weekly, your oldest backup will be more than 2 months old. The contents might be depricated by the time you would restore one of those.
Good luck!
