I am having difficulties with the Alerter application. Our operations team reported that it was not starting. Trying to execute the application under the 'Operator' (none admin) account resulted in the following error:
I eventually uninstalled the app and reinstalled it but got the same problem. Then I uninstalled it and the reinstalled it under the administrator account and it works fine for the administrator but I still get the same error for the 'Operator'. I suspect that some settings are remaining even after the uninstall or the settings stored on the Dataminer server are causing the issue. Can anyone tell me how to fully clear the Alerter settings so that a fresh install works?
Hi,
This could be caused by some corrupted dll files (eg due to a Windows update).
Note that the followingis a potential solution, it’s not guaranteed it will fix the issue.
- Go to the folder located at C:\Users <User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA.
This is user-specific related, hence why it worked under Administrator and not on regular user. - In this folder there is another folder, open this one.
- Sort the files by ‘Date modified’ so the most recent one is on top.
- Delete this dll.
- Delete also the dll’s with the same ‘Date modified’ as the first one you deleted.
- Restart Alerter
Please check if this gets rid of the issue.
I hope this will help you further
