Is it possible to get clients connected on a secondary interface of a DMA system?
I'm assuming you're talking about the Acquisition IP of a failover system?
By definition, 2 network connections can be used:
- Corporate Network
= 1st interface
The network where the users of the system reside (i.e. the office network).
Also used for heartbeats and synchronization. - Acquisition Network
= 2nd interface
The network where the managed products reside (i.e. the technical network).
So mainly used for communication with data sources managed by DataMiner.
So by definition it would appear that users should connect to the Corporate network.
However it should be possible for your clients to connect via the Acquisition IP.
NOTE
Please be aware that there might be some IT restrictions, I'm thinking about when using HTTPS, the IP should be included in the certificate or when using a hostname/FQDN you could make it refer to that Acq. IP if you want (via DNS),...
There probably are other restrictions/limitations..
That’s not the error message I was expecting.
Do you have the same on any client when trying to connect towards the secondary IP? E.g. also try on the server itself.
Are you sure the needed ports are opened? (e.g. 8004/80/443)
https://docs.dataminer.services/user-guide/Advanced_Functionality/DataMiner_Agents/Configuring_a_DMA/Configuring_the_IP_network_ports.html
You might find more details when checking the Cube Logs.
Click “back” when it’s giving you that “start dataminer” message, bottom-right, click the cogwheel > view logging
Hi Robin, I have a DMA system were i have two interfaces on. One is for a part of our network which is also connecting towards external systems and other Dataminer systems (they are forwarding traps), the other interface is used to connect towards other part of our network (multiple organisations that are merged), is that something in can configure to allow both to accept client connections? as now i am getting the announcement “Start the DataMiner software manually or contact your system administrator.” when trying to connect on the secondary interface. Or might it be not able to connect over port 8004?
