There are two options in DataMiner for the Cassandra DB:

  • Cassandra (Cassandra Cluster for every DMA or Failover pair)
By default Cassandra is installed on the server where DataMiner is hosted, if this is the case you can use DataMiner to configure your backups (see DataMiner Help for more information).
If you are hosting Cassandra on a remote server, then you are currently not able to take backups through DataMiner. There is already a tool created to make backups of external Cassandra nodes towards a network drive.
  • Cassandra Cluster (Cassandra Cluster for the whole DMS)
This is still under development (planned to be code ready by 10.0.10 and tested by 10.0.11).
As this one is still under development we can’t provide yet much information on the backup procedure, but the idea at the moment is to have a centralized way of backing up the important data from the central Cassandra DB.

Note: It is only possible to have a Linux OS when hosting Cassandra on remote servers as DataMiner requires Windows. In the case of external nodes you need to rely on a tool to create backups.
