Can DataMiner support both Azure AD (SAML) and domain accounts?

Solved168 views27th March 2025AD AzureAD SAML User Authentication

Hi,

One of our users is considering enabling Azure AD authentication for DataMiner using SAML to allow external user access. However, I want to ensure that users authenticated using their current domain accounts can still log into Cube, Dashboards, LCAs etc.

Does DataMiner support both Azure AD (SAML) authentication and domain accounts simultaneously, or will enabling Azure AD prevent domain users from logging in with their existing accounts?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Ciprian,

It’s one or the other… If you do a SAML integration, you will get the login screen of the authentication provider and you need to use that login.

But aren’t their users in Azure AD as well? I would assume they will be able to log in with their Microsoft work account. I assume they sync their local domain users with their Microsoft accounts? Because using SAML is now the recommended way of doing authentication because that supports MFA and has all the identity protection you don’t have on local domain users…

That’s what I thought too. I appreciate the confirmation – I’ll pass the message along. Thank you for your speedy reply, Bert!
