Is there any benefit to using the DataMiner cube in Internet Explorer browser instead of the cube client application? What is the recommendation for version 10.2

No, there is no advantage at all.  On the contrary, it is recommended to run the Cube application as a desktop client application, and using IE is no longer supported from 10.3 onwards.  More information can be found here: Frequently asked questions about DataMiner client applications | DataMiner Docs
