“Allow element to be reused by multiple services”

Hi all,

What does the option "Allow element to be reused by multiple services" in a templated service do exactly? Because even if you do not check this option, the element can be used by more than one service nonetheless as I just found out.

There is no further information in the user guide, so this confuses me a bit. Does anyone have an explanation?

Hi Max,

I forgot to tick this when creating a new service template the other week, which only allowed me to create a single service with the same element in, I'm currently using 10.2.8 on the system I got that behaviour on, which is what I have always expected it to be.

Hi Philip,
I understand, so this only impacts newly created services and not existing ones?

EDIT: Can confirm this only applies to new services created by the template, old ones will not get removed when checking the option.

Hi Max,
Just doing a quick check myself I get the same. The logic is only checked for services already created using the same template, when creating a new services.
Existing services and editing existing services that use the template aren’t checked against that logic.
