Hi All,

We have an alarm filter that was created by someone else and is currently set to “Protected”, we want to use the same alarm template but want to reassign it to someone else, does anyone know an answer to the following:

1. Is there a way to reassign the “Ownership” of an protected alarm filter to another individual or a group?

2. If you duplicate the filter XML can you edit the “Created By” and the “Name” to duplicate it and give ownership to someone else

Or, do you need to create a completely new filter from scratch?

Cheers

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

The easiest way to edit the protected filter would be by setting the ‘Edit/Delete protected filters’ to enabled in the permissions section for a specific user group (i.e. administrators), however, you cannot change the type or the filter creator this way.

If this is of no help, you could duplicate the <protectedfilterName>.xml in the C:\Skyline DataMiner\Users\SharedUserSettings\Filters folder and change the name, type (etc.) values.

You can also alter the original <protectedfilterName>.xml file (i.e. type to public) but this requires restart of the DM agent for the changes to be reflected in the DMS.

Hi Pawel,

That is pretty much exactly what I was looking for

Thanks

Ryan
