Serial Simulator – streaming data over serial port

Hi all, I am aware of a QA simulator to simulate SNMP and HTTP devices and also a Skyline Serial Simulator driver capable of simulating request/response type interaction.

Is there a serial simulator (driver/tool) that exists to help simulate/test the following type of device:

  1. The device is a terminal server (Moxa). It connects to an end device (NMS) over a serial connection (printer port). The end device will stream data over this serial connection. The terminal server will then convey this data over TCP/IP to DMA.
  2. The DMA driver will connect to the terminal server over TCP/IP. The driver simply listens for incoming data. It does not need to send any requests/commands.
  3. The terminal server keeps the TCP/IP connection alive using TCP-keepalive packets.

Any sort of info/help would be much appreciated on how such a driver can be validated without access to the actual device.

Hi,

I believe this is not currently covered with the existing simulation driver.

We’re looking to move all simulation to one tool upcoming in the new year, and this would be a case we could look to include. It doesn’t seem to be a difficult thing to cover.

I will contact you accordingly to look at the requirements.
