Before you upgrade: Install .NET 10

DataMiner Main Release 10.6.0 is almost here, bringing a range of improvements and new features. To support these changes, the compute requirements have been updated. What does that mean for you? Before upgrading, there's one important thing to check: .NET 10.

Starting from DataMiner Main Release versions 10.5.0 [CU10] and 10.6.0, and from Feature Release version 10.6.1, .NET 10 becomes a required dependency—alongside the existing dependency on .NET 8. If you're planning to upgrade to any of these versions, make sure the .NET 10 hosting bundle is installed on your system beforehand.

The good news: Installing .NET 10 has no impact on your running system. You can install it in advance, while DataMiner is up and running, without requiring a DataMiner restart or an operating system reboot. Once .NET 10 is installed on all nodes, you can proceed with your next DataMiner upgrade as usual.

Why is .NET 10 now a requirement? Adding .NET 10 as a compute requirement allows us to prepare for a smooth transition from .NET 8 to .NET 10. This ensures continued support and compatibility, especially with the retirement of .NET 8 on the horizon.

So before you kick off your next upgrade, take a moment to verify your environment. Installing .NET 10 in advance will help ensure a smooth upgrade experience.
