Dataminer Backup with database option in combination with STAAS

Dear Dojo,

In Dataminer there are different Dataminer Backup Types available:

  • Full Backup
  • Full Backup without Database
  • Configuration Backup
  • Configuration Backup without Database

In case a DMA system is connected to STAAS what is the recommended backup type for the following use cases:

  1. Restore a DMA on a separate server.  The target server will replace the original sever completely.  This is the disaster recovery scenario.
  2. Copy a configuration over to another server.  The target is for the new server to have the exact same configuration as the original one but is independent from and should co-exist next to the original one

Probably for the second use case, a "Dataminer backup" is not the right tool but wondering what is the alternative?

Hi Koen,

For STaaS, the backup of the data is handled on the cloud side. Either option (with or without database) will not contain storage data. For schedules, i would recommend to use the withouth database option, just for the sake of clearity

For your first use case i would recommend to use the 'Full backup without database'.

For the second case, I believe the 'Configuration Backup without Database' would be the best option of those 4.

I'm not sure if a "DataMiner Backup" is the right tool for that, but maybe someone else can answer that better.
