Time for cleanup: How to remove unused organizations 🧹

Empower 2026 is around the corner! If you attended a previous edition of Empower or participated in one of our Katas, you may have created a temporary organization as a sandbox environment. Once the event or exercise is over, those organizations often end up lingering in your overview. If that sounds familiar, it might be time for a cleanup.

In this post, we'll walk you through how to remove an organization, so you get rid of unnecessary clutter and start fresh.

Before you start: two things to check

Spotted an organization you no longer need? Before you remove it, there are two things to double-check.

First, make sure you have the Owner role for that organization on dataminer.services. Without this role, you won't be able to delete the organization.

Second, the organization must not contain any active systems. This safeguard helps prevent accidental removal of a production environment. If the organization only ever contained a trial DaaS system, you're good to go. Trial systems are automatically decommissioned and removed after one week, so once that period has passed, the organization should be entirely free of active resources, allowing you to safely proceed with deletion.

Removing an organization

Once you've confirmed the permissions and verified that no active systems remain, you can proceed:

  1. Go to https://admin.dataminer.services and log in.
  2. Check whether the organization you want to remove is selected in the header bar. If not, use the organization selector in the top-right corner to switch to the correct one.
  3. Open Settings from the left-hand pane, under Organization.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Delete organization.
  5. Confirm the deletion by typing the organization name exactly as shown.
  6. Click the Delete button to officially remove the organization.

A clean slate for what's next

That's it. In just a few steps, you've removed an organization that would otherwise keep cluttering your overview.

If you later want to start experimenting again — whether for a new Kata, Empower session, or your own tests — you can simply create a new DaaS system on dataminer.services. As part of that flow, you'll either create a new organization or reuse an existing one, so spinning up a fresh sandbox is always just a few clicks away.

With Empower 2026 coming up, now’s the perfect moment to clean up old test organizations and be ready for what’s next. Go ahead and experiment, but maybe don't forget the cleanup step when you're done. 😉
