Transferring User/Group permissions between DMS

A user has DMS in multiple environments. Assuming that each DMS will have the same groups created (either local or sync via AD), what is the quickest way to port the user/group permission settings in System Centre from one DMS to another. The user would like all DMS to have the same permission settings on each DMS.

Currently the way the user is handling this is by manually looking at what is in one DMS and setting it on the other via Cube. Is there a quicker and less-error-prone method?

Hi Bing,

I am not aware of other mechanisms that DataMiner may have, and maybe someone can pitch in on this, but I can see a couple of options depending on how often the user wants to perform these actions.

  • If it is a one of thing he could temporarily change the backup settings in DataMiner to include the following file

    and then import the resulting backup into the other system.
  • If the user wishes to execute something more regularly, it would probably require an automation script to export and import the Users/Groups settings.
