snmp forwarding of services

Hello, I have a question, concerning snmp forwarding.
Our leading monitoring system is at this time ist Netcool.
So our Dataminer DMS is configured to forward alarms via SNMP to the Netcool System, using SNMP Manager.
Now, my problem: We use elements in Dataminer for monitoring which produce many alarm traffic, most of it is irrelevant. We solved this problem by using Service Templates to produce specific Services filtering the relevant alarms of the discribed elements.
But: How to configure SNMP forwarding and its necessary filters?
If I filter like "is <element> unequal <monitor element>"
then SNMP forwarding is stopped from this element.
But I want that alarms from the services, which use the "monitor element", are forwarded.
I was working with a filter like "is <service> equal <myService>" but SNMP forwarding from the service doesn't work.
Can you give me an idea!?
Merry Christmas
Gregor

Hi Gregor,

In System Center > SNMP Managers, you can configure a list of SNMP managers, i.e. third-party platforms to which DataMiner will forward SNMP notifications.

These notifications are sent based on the alarm filters you configure. In your case, you can set up a filter to forward only alarms that impact the specific service you want to monitor.

You can find more information here:

  • About SNMP managers | DataMiner Docs
  • Configuring an SNMP manager in DataMiner Cube | DataMiner Docs

Kind regards,
