We are trying to add a Harmonic Prostream X element but there is little documentation on the connector. We have one running older firmware 2.9 and two with newer firmware 3.7.1. Both result in a device timeout in DMA.
RestAPI on the Prostream X is licensed (permanent) but shows as "not in use" so I suspect there is something on the Prostream X that needs to be enabled, but I'm not seeing any options around this. The Prostream X manual has also, so far, not been helpful.
Anyone have any experience with these?
Hi Jake,
The ProStream X running firmware version 2.9 does not support their latest API (v4) yet. So most likely the latest connector version 1.1.0.X will not be compatible.
Please also refer to the connector help page: Harmonic ProStream X | DataMiner Docs
For the equipment running FW 2.9:
It's required to setup your element in DataMiner with the latest connector version from range 1.0.1.X. Available to download from here: Harmonic ProStream X | Catalog, under the Versions tab you can select version 1.0.1.13 which should be compatible with this firmware. ProStream API v2 will be used in the background but has a limited dataset.
For the equipment running FW 3.7:
The latest version available from the catalog should suffice.
Note: it's required to fill in the credentials for API communication on the elements for the data to be retrievable.
If the following license is installed, the API should be accessible.
If there is still no communication, could you verify with the StreamViewer if there is anything being received or what the error code being received is?
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Thank, Robin. I was looking at the docs on the connector pages, and complete pilot error on not seeing https://docs.dataminer.services/connector/doc/Harmonic_Prostream_X.html
Per your instructions, I have connected to the Prostream 2.9 with the 1.0.1.13 version. This works.
On the 3.7.1 PSX, I tried the latest 1.1.0.14 (11/13/2024) but that caused nothing but problems. From StreamViewer (apologies for the bad copy/paste as I'd only saved a screenshot, not text, but along the lines of):
-> 21:33:16 – Error : 12002- [ERROR WINHTTP_TIMEOUT]
-> 21:33:16 – Get for assetsStatsContent had error : 12002. [ERROR WINHTTP_TIMEOUT]
-> 21:33:16 – Retrying get for assetsStatsContent
<- 21:33:16 – POST https://10.9.2.221:443/restapi/v4/conf
Repeated for all the data it was trying to POST / retrieve from the ProstreamX.
I moved back to version 1.1.0.13 and it started talking, so far so good.
