AWS Outpost: https://aws.amazon.com/outposts/
Does Skyline support hosting a full or partial DataMiner environment on AWS Outpost and if so, what kind of setup would be supported? With that I mean, would we require full server instances for both DataMiner as well as the Database nodes or can certain parts already run as a service within AWS Outpost?
At this moment, we see no reason why running a complete or partial DataMiner cluster within AWS Outpost would not be possible. As AWS Outpost is basically an extension of the AWS cloud services within your local datacenter.
When translating this into an actual AWS deployment, the following would be supported:
- DataMiner nodes: AWS EC2 instances
- Cassandra nodes: AWS EC2 instances
- Elasticsearch nodes: AWS EC2 instances or AWS Opensearch Service
Note that on the DataMiner nodes part you can opt to host all nodes on AWS EC2 instances or to host only a part on EC2 instances and the remaining nodes on virtual or physical server instances within your local datacenter.
