Hi Dojo, hope you are all fine.
We run a DMS cluster with 6 Agents over Vmware Cluster with vmotion and other failover setup with 10 Hosts on ESXi configured in a High Avaliability Datacenter.
As we all know, Dataminer uses some information about the Machine and CPU Identification as well as Mac Addressees from the existing interfaces to compute the identification (pardon me if not correct) or something like this for the licencing.
Altough we keep unexposed machine identificators and Interfaces Mac Adresses, we had to disable the vmotion failover for the virtual machines because every time the Vcenter moved any machine to other host it caused the Agent to lose it´s licence activation.
I wonder if you have got this kind of problem and what is the solution, if there´s one to keep the agents licensed while moving them around the hosts on the vmware cluster.
Are there any experience here of how to make use of the VMWARE HA and setup DMS over those virtualized enviroment clusters?
Also, if not documented, since the use of Virtualization is getting more and more common, can you guys do a Best practices tutorial on how to configure the vm´s and vm´s clusters to best suit Dataminer?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Euler,
Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately what you are trying to achieve is not currently possible, I would recommend for you to post this in the feature suggestions in Dojo:
You can also look through our Dojo articles on hardware recommendations to get an idea of what set up would be ideal.
Hope this helps!
Thank you Lucie, I´ll get that to the feature suggestions.
best regards
