Hi Dojo community,
A customer asked me if there is any problem in installing SCCM (Microsoft Configuration Manager version 5.00.9106.1000) on the production agents of their Dataminer cluster.
I took a look at Dojo and in the only question that addresses the topic I didn't see any concerns about installing SCCM. (Cube deployment methods: is the silent install supported? - DataMiner Dojo)
Do you have any recommendations or suggestions on the topic?
Hi Jardel,
I discussed your question with one of our Principal DevOps engineers, and here are some insights based on his explanation:
It mostly depends on what you want to use it for.
SSCM is primarily used to oversee and manage a large number of devices from a single point, supporting actions like bulk installations and updates.
There is no problem installing it on a DataMiner server as the tool should not interact with DataMiner directly.
However, attempting to control DataMiner through SSCM may not be supported. That said, it should not interfere with or disrupt DataMiner.
Hello Melissa,
Thank you very much for your time and support.
I spoke with the client and yes, the idea of installing SSCM comes from the infrastructure team to perform the installations and updates.
I will emphasize that the client should not interact with Dataminer directly, trying to control, interfere or interrupt it, as there is no support. That was certainly clear to me.
I will inform the client.
Kind Regards.
