If a dataminer agent in a failover pair fails (for this instance a vm instance is corrupted)and does not have a dmbackup, when a new agent is created will the lost information be synced automatically when added to the previous systems as a failover pair or does a new backup need to be created from the main system and restored before this is done.
Hi Curtis,
When creating a failover pair, the second agent always needs to be empty. All the data will be synced automatically.
For more info, please see this help page and it's subpages: https://docs.dataminer.services/user-guide/Advanced_Functionality/Failover/Configuring_Failover.html
Hi Curtis, that depends on the DB configuration, for clustered DB storage for example, some manual steps are needed: https://docs.dataminer.services/user-guide/Advanced_Functionality/Failover/Configuring_Failover/Preparing_the_two_DataMiner_Agents.html#dedicated-clustered-storage
I have an additional question to ask. When the DMA fails and you change the failover configuration to no configuration , does this cause the DMS to restart ?
Hi Curtis, I'm not sure what you mean by 'the DMA fails'. If you remove a node from the failover pair, the node will be cleared. The remaining node will not restart.
Sorry, I mean when you change a dma to no failover, will a dma restart be required?
oh fair enough. Will the DB server configs sync automatically too ?
