About Tek Systems
From its inception, Tek Systems established a leading role in New Zealand’s broadcast technology market, repeatedly introducing new platforms ahead of wider market adoption. Its milestones included early deployment of MPEG stereo audio, MPEG-2 encoding and contribution, statistical remultiplexing, video-on-demand servers, satellite audio distribution, ad insertion, IP set-top boxes, and the first MPEG-2 services delivered over Gigabit Ethernet.
The company also held major sole-supplier and systems-integration roles for leading operators, including Telecom New Zealand, Sky Network Television, Saturn/TelstraClear, Prime TV, BCL, and Fiji Television, spanning analogue television expansion, low-power transmission, audio networks, and digital TV platforms. It was an early leader in commercial radio audio-over-IP deployments and delivered the TelstraClear TV Core solution as key platform supplier and master systems integrator—their first DataMiner deployment.
The transition to predominantly IP-based solutions, together with the growing capabilities of DataMiner, has enabled us to extend our expertise beyond broadcasting into the utilities, industrial, transport, and local government sectors.
