As I’m writing this, the squad is finishing up the next version of DataMiner IDP, which is scheduled to be released at the end of August. Let me give you a sneak peek of what’s coming up.
First of all, we’re working on a more convenient interface for the configuration of properties for a CI type. Currently, the element properties are organized in a flat list and it can become difficult to find the correct property. That’s why we’re working on grouping the properties and organizing them more intuitively: Below, the image on the left shows what the configuration is currently like, while the image on the right shows what it will be like in the next IDP version.
Secondly, as more and more people are writing scripts to perform software updates and configuration backups, we also realized that there’s a need to have an example script for the software update operation.
What’s more, some users also provided feedback that the existing example script for the configuration backup operation is too complex to easily use it as a starting point for their implementation. Fortunately, the new example scripts of the next IDP version will make it more convenient to start writing the script and speed up the implementation.
That’s it for now. There will be another blog post when the next version is officially released. So stay tuned!
