Hello, with a situation where an Dataminer DMS upgrade is configured to be performed simultaneously across all the DMAs in an entire DMS and also the upgrade is configured to include a full server reboot (as shown below), is there any control over which server in each DMA pair becomes the Main controlling DMA? Generally the time taken for each server to complete its reboot cycle will be slightly different, especially in a scenario where some DMAs have pending Windows updates deployment to complete.
Paul, thanks for raising this question.
We have two types of failover, i.e. Manual and Automatic. Details are available at Advanced failover configurations.
When DMA has the Manual failover type in configuration, virtual IP will be assigned to the main node regardless of the node that restarts first. The automatic failover type brings an agent online to minimise service disruption. It uses the heartbeat mechanism. However, there is no guarantee that the virtual IP is assigned to the same node as before.
