Two questions regarding the Cube Update Center:
1. Does it support the old DCP accounts or the new DM Services accounts? Or both?
2. How does the Update Center know what protocols it can download (as in what protocols have been purchased)? Is that based on the Agent itself or based on the DCP credentials provided?
In other words, does the Update Center rely on some DMA config to know which user is concerned? Or does it rely on the DCP credentials used?
Hypothetical use case: if user A would have access to user B's DMA and use his own credentials there, would he be able to download protocols purchased by user A or the ones purchased by user B?
Hi Simon
- Update center currently only supports the old DCP Accounts. Adding support for the new DM Services account is however high on the backlog.
- Update centers gets the available protocols through the DataMiner Agent, not the used DCP account. It than contacts skyline with, who knows which DMA is linked to which organization, and the protocols it can access.
So in your example, User A would only be able to get the protocols that the organization of User B has purchased.
Appending on topic 2. As far as protocol updates are concerned, the cube would extract a list of already installed protocols on DMA of user B and send an dcp api request to have dcp look for any updates available on those protocols within the supported protocol list for that customer.
