TAP Aggregation, Wireshark and EBU List Tool

2110 Cisco Wireshark EBU

Whereas you had your monitor port at your SDI router in the past to troubleshoot output signals, a different approach is required in ALL-IP environments.

DataMiner perfectly automates every single step to analyze any problematic signal you might have at any of your media edge devices / receivers. TAP aggregation in combination with one or multiple IP-Analyzers are the perfect combination. To configure the full workflows plenty of steps need to be executed. DataMiner automation engine does it all for you!

  • Select the multicast stream you want to analyze.
  • DataMiner will configure everything which is required for port mirroring and TAP aggregation at your switch fabric. In our example, the Cisco Nexus 93180-2 acts as TAP aggregation switch. As you can see, there is no traffic routed from the Cisco Nexus 93180-1 at the beginning. Only when TAP aggregation has been configured by DataMiner will the mirrored traffic flow.
  • in the next step DataMiner will set the required access control lists to forward the traffic to a Wireshark instance.
  • As soon as the requested multicast stream is available for Wireshark, Wireshark starts a .PCAP recording and stores the file on an FTP-server.
  • Once the recording has been finished DataMiner will decommission TAP aggregation. again and load the Wireshark .PCAP file into the EBU LIST tool (Live-IP Software Toolkit) for in depth analytics of your uncompressed video and audio streams.
