Managing demanding satellite systems is much easier today thanks to Digital Transformation. Process Automation enables faster execution of operations, saving you time and resources. In this use case, we explore how Tata Play DTH India implements a DataMiner solution to replace the manual method of changing antenna-satellite communication types. This solution allows them to efficiently schedule communication type adjustments caused by sun outages. Sun fades or outages are interruptions or distortions in geostationary satellite signals caused by interference from the sun. Twice a year, these interruptions occur briefly when the sun aligns directly behind the satellite, causing interference for the ground station’s attempts to receive data or send data to the satellite.

The entire solution consists of two parts: a collection of all available DataMiner services and the ability to create switching schedules for individual services. Once the schedule is created, you can edit or delete the schedule, but also monitor the execution status of each switch within the schedule, including any errors.

When the schedule is ready for execution, the Sun Outage Manager sends information to the selected services within the schedule, specifying the type of communication to be used. The designated service receives this information and changes the type of communication, such as transitioning from RF to IP.

This way, by integrating the Sun Outage Manager into DataMiner, you gain the ability to manage your system faster and more efficiently, especially when it is necessary to perform several operations simultaneously. As a result, this solution offers huge advantages in saving time and resources.
