USE CASE DETAILS
The General Dynamics Model 950A and the General Dynamics Model 100 are antenna control systems. They are designed to position an antenna in all axes of movement for the purpose of locating and tracking the satellite of interest. DataMiner provides protocols for both systems, which can be used to monitor and control the physical devices through the DataMiner software. Elements that are running these protocols will show the current active faults and status messages.
When different firmware versions are in use, it is possible that a different message is shown on the DataMiner element than on the device itself. This is because various firmware versions can return different sets of data. To make these protocols as generic as possible, we compiled our own default list of supported messages for each model. A message will only show up in the Active Fault Messages table or the Active Status Messages table if it is present in this list.
All returned messages that are not present in the list of supported messages can be logged at any time. Pressing the "Log Msgs" button on the Settings page will print the current active unsupported messages in the element log. The aim of logging these unsupported messages is to turn them into supported messages by adding them in the code and in the alarm template, if applicable. The video above shows how you can make a supported message. You can also follow the steps that are listed in the information section of our Catalog.
